Some 40,000 people march in Stafford this week to protest against attempts to cut and privatise their local hospital. The march represented about a third of the local population. The mile-long demonstration is the biggest local NHS march so far, and it shows the potential for massive community campaigns, where cuts are being made.
The next step in the campaign to save the NHS is the mass demonstration planned as a show of force against the closure of the A&E department at Ealing hospital. Anyone who cares about London’s NHS should come along – we need to support other areas in their fights against cuts, closures and privatisation – and it’ll also be an excellent opportunity to pick up leaflets from one of the stalls and help build the all-London demonstration on Saturday 18th May.
Meet at 11.30 on Saturday 27th April in Southall Park, Uxbridge Road, Southall UB1 3BT. From Kingston, you can get the X26 towards Heathrow, then change at Hatton Cross for the 482.
